  Does this Chargers roster look like a legitimate AFC contender?

  Yes — I think the 2026 Chargers are a legitimate AFC contender, but I’d put them in the “can win the conference” tier rather than the “clear favorite” tier.

  My 2026 Chargers confidence scale

  Regular-season contender: 🟢 Absolutely
  AFC West contender: 🟢 Absolutely
  AFC Championship contender: 🟢 Yes
  Super Bowl favorite: 🟡 Not yet
  Super Bowl capable: 🟢 100%

  The offensive line is still my biggest concern.

  🔥 Is the offense finally good enough?

  🔥 Is the defense championship-caliber?

  🔥 Can they beat Denver when the division is on the line?

  🔥 Is Herbert surrounded by enough talent?

  🔥 Or is there still a major weakness this roster needs to fix?

  Give me your biggest reason for believing in this team — AND your biggest reason for doubting them.

  Are the Bolts REALLY contenders? Or are we still one piece away?
